W. Scott Hill serves as a Managing Director at Hightower Texas. He has more than 20 years of experience in capital markets working with high-net-worth families and institutions to design investment programs constructed around a financial planning approach. Scott has a strong technical proficiency with an ability to clearly articulate sophisticated strategies and concepts to clients. Scott also values coordination with clients’ other professional advisors, believing this communication is key to constructing a family’s comprehensive financial program.
In 2014, Scott joined Salient and in 2018, Hightower acquired Salient’s private wealth management business to become Hightower Texas. Previously, he was an Executive Director in the Private Bank at J.P. Morgan. He also served as a Senior Vice President at Kanaly Trust Company.
Scott holds a degree in economics from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the University of Houston. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) and Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) practitioner designations. Scott also holds the FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses.
He is active in the community, and currently serves as an Officer or Director on the boards of the River Oaks Baptist School Endowment, Glasstire and Houston Arts Alliance. If Scott weren’t an advisor, he’d be a rancher and would be glad to spend more time in the mountains in retirement (although he’s not sure he ever wants to retire). He recently adopted a rescue dog, Penny. Scott claims he can’t carry a tune, although his son and daughter are wonderful singers. Scott was also often compared to Kurt Cobain, but that was a while back when he had much longer hair.
